China's printing and equipment import and export data
1. Printing equipment
The import and export data of printing equipment from January to December 2023 are shown in Table 1.
(1) Offset printing machine
1) Web offset printing press
From January to December 2023, China exported 121 web offset printing machines, with a value of US$19.57 million, a year-on-year decrease of 25%.8 units were exported to Spain, valued at US$2.7 million; 27 units were exported to Vietnam, valued at US$2.42 million; 7 units were exported to Italy, valued at US$2.31 million; 11 units were exported to Turkey, valued at US$1.94 million; 5 units were exported to Russia, valued at US$1.89 million; Exported 10 units to Indonesia, worth US$1.75 million.
From January to December 2022, 139 web offset printing machines were exported, with a value of US$27.14 million.Among them, 27 units were exported to Italy, with a total value of US$8.39 million; 25 units were exported to Turkey, with a total value of US$4.96 million; and 10 units were exported to Spain, with a total value of US$3.36 million.
From January to December 2023, 80 web offset printing machines (including commercial form web printing machines and other products) were imported, with a total amount of US$31.82 million, a year-on-year increase of 114%.58 units were imported from Japan, valued at US$15.4 million; 11 units were imported from Germany, valued at US$13.87 million (including one unit imported from Germany to Tianjin in July 2023, valued at US$10.81 million); 7 units were imported from France, valued at US$10.81 million. $2.28 million.The combined imports of Japan and Germany accounted for 92% of the total imports.

From January to December 2022, 544 sheet-fed offset printing machines were exported, with a value of US$120 million.Among them, 36 units were exported to the United States, with a total value of US$18.15 million, ranking first in value.
From January to December 2023, 877 units were imported, worth US$620 million.Among them, imports from Germany were US$460 million, accounting for approximately 3/4 of the total import value; imports from Japan were US$150 million.
From January to December 2022, a total of 961 sheet-fed offset printing machines were imported, with a value of US$600 million, of which 677 were imported from Germany, with a value of US$430 million; 282 units were imported from Japan, with a value of US$170 million.
(2) Flexographic printing machine
From January to December 2023, a total of 38 flexographic printing machines were imported, with a value of US$17.8 million, a year-on-year decrease of 42%.Among them, 5 flexographic printing machines were imported from Germany with a total value of US$12.39 million, accounting for 70% of the total import value; 7 units were imported from Italy with a total value of US$3.67 million; 1 unit was imported from Japan with a total value of US$1.03 million; and 1 unit was imported from Switzerland. 1 unit, amounting to US$490,000.
From January to December 2023, 142 flexographic printing machines were exported, with a value of US$116 million, a year-on-year increase of 16%.The destination with the highest export value was Russia, with 118 units worth US$26.32 million; followed by Vietnam with 114 units, worth US$8.76 million; Saudi Arabia with 131 units, worth US$7.33 million; Italy 10 units, worth US$5.55 million.
From January to December 2022, 2,236 flexographic printing machines were exported, worth US$100 million.Among them, the highest value was exported to Vietnam, 524 units, worth US$16.11 million; 195 units were exported to India, worth US$7.58 million; 70 units were exported to Russia, worth US$7.34 million.
(3) Gravure printing machine
From January to December 2023, 31 gravure printing machines were imported, with a value of US$10.91 million, a year-on-year decrease of 55%.The import source countries with the highest value are Japan, South Korea and Switzerland.Among them, 4 units were imported from Japan with a total value of US$3.15 million; 5 units were imported from South Korea with a total value of US$2.98 million; and 3 units were imported from Switzerland with a total value of US$2.28 million.
From January to December 2023, 1,278 gravure printing machines were exported, with a value of US$61.72 million, a year-on-year decrease of 6%.Among them, 303 units were exported to Vietnam, with a total value of US$12.97 million; 76 units were exported to India, with a total value of US$8.32 million; 52 units were exported to Thailand, with a total value of US$6.32 million; 45 units were exported to Indonesia, with a total value of US$4.45 million; and 15 units were exported to Japan, with a total value of US$3.06 million. Compared with exports, PS version imports are both smaller in quantity and value.
2) CTP version
From January to December 2023, the CTP version will be exported to 186 million m2, with an amount of US$580 million.Among them, the export value to the Netherlands was the highest, 84.11 million US dollars, 20 million m2; followed by South Korea, 20.32 million m2, 59.65 million US dollars; India 12.79 million m2, 38.68 million US dollars; Turkey 9.57 million m2, 28.38 million US dollars.
Compared with the CTP version's exports, the CTP version's import quantity and value are both smaller.
3) Flexible printing plate
From January to December 2023, 629,000 m2 of flexographic printing plates were imported, amounting to US$31.78 million.Imported flexo plates mainly come from developed countries.The source countries with the largest import volume are Germany and Japan. The combined import volume of the two countries is 456,000 m2, accounting for 73% of the total import volume.
From January to December 2023, 656,000 m2 of flexographic printing plates were exported, worth US$23.9 million.In terms of quantity and value, the largest export destination is Russia, with 160,000 m2 and a value of US$5.49 million; followed by Vietnam, India, Belgium and Indonesia.
(2) Ink
1) Black printing ink
From January to December 2023, 1633t of black ink was imported, worth US$51.57 million.Among them, the largest import volume was from Japan, which was 621t, worth US$21.41 million, accounting for approximately 38% of the total import volume; followed by the United Kingdom, Singapore, South Korea, Germany, France and the United States.
From January to December 2023, 3731t of black ink was exported, with an amount of US$17.47 million.Among them, Russia exported the most goods, 412 tons, worth US$2.79 million; followed by Indonesia, with 393 tons, worth US$1.78 million.
2) Other printing inks
From January to December 2023, 6377t of other printing inks were imported, amounting to US$210 million.The largest import source country is Japan, with 1,610t, accounting for 1/4 of the total import volume, and the amount is US$72.9 million, accounting for 1/3 of the total import amount.Imported 119 tons from Switzerland, with an amount of US$31.11 million, ranking second in terms of amount.Imports from South Korea amounted to 943 tons, worth US$23.14 million, ranking third in value.
From January to December 2023, the import quantity decreased by 775t year-on-year, but the amount increased by US$7.48 million.
From January to December 2023, 32,000 tons of other printing inks were exported, US$150 million. Among them, Russia exported the most in terms of amount, US$19.2 million, 2246t; followed by Vietnam, US$16.27 million, 4131t; Indonesia, US$11.85 million, 2738t .
(3) Water-based inkjet ink
From January to December 2023, 37,000 tons of water-based inkjet inks were exported, with an amount of US$260 million, a year-on-year increase of 9%.The market with the largest export value is India, 6222t, US$30.92 million; Pakistan is second, 4393t, US$24.26 million; Indonesia ranks third, 2247t, US$17.35 million; the United States is fourth, 1146t, US$14.59 million; Thailand is fifth. , 1650t, US$14.36 million.
From January to December 2023, 5,400t of water-based inkjet ink was imported, worth US$130 million.Among them, Malaysia imported the most, 1815t, US$63.36 million, accounting for half of the total import value; followed by Japan, 1398t, US$29.71 million.

The import and export data of printed matter from January to December 2023 is shown in Table 3.
(1) Other books, pamphlets and similar printed matter
From January to December 2023, 351,000 tons of other books, pamphlets and similar printed matter were exported, with a value of US$1.02 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 13%.Among them, the export value to the United States was the highest, US$460 million, 15.7 tons, accounting for 45% of the total export quantity and value.
From January to December 2023, 14,700 tons of other books, pamphlets and similar printed matter were imported, with an amount of US$300 million, a year-on-year decrease of 9%.Among them, the import value from the UK was the highest, US$55.82 million, 2118t.
(2) Commercial advertisements, catalogs and other printed materials with no commercial value
From January to December 2023, 40,000 tons of commercial advertisements, catalogs and other printed matter without commercial value were exported, with a value of US$330 million, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%.The export destination with the highest value is the United States, US$50.71 million, 6886t; Vietnam is second, with US$38.66 million, 4403t.
From January to December 2023, 2066 tons of commercial advertisements, catalogs and other printed matter with no commercial value were imported, with a total amount of US$25.85 million, a year-on-year decrease of 13%.
(3) Other printed matter on paper
From January to December 2023, 49,000 tons of other paper-based printed matter were exported, with an amount of US$290 million, a year-on-year increase of 22%.The export destination with the highest value is Japan, US$48.46 million, but the weight is relatively small, only 760t; followed by the United States, US$47.16 million, 9648t; third is Vietnam, US$36.35 million, 13,000t.
From January to December 2023, 2890t of other paper-based printed matter was imported, with an amount of US$180 million, a year-on-year decrease of 4.6%.Among them, the import value from the United States was the highest, US$35.9 million, 451t; the import from Singapore was US$28.38 million, 93t; the import from Germany was US$18.93 million, 32t.
Conclusion
